Situation
Hewlett Packard and Landor Associates approached Langtech to create a Web-based Brand Asset Management System (BAMS) to help manage HP’s brand across the hundreds of brand managers, advertising agencies, marketing specialists, and copy editors across their worldwide operations. Previously, HP’s look and feel was conveyed through a printed book that was expensive to create and distribute, and immediately became outdated. The system needed to be scalable, secure and robust enough to support hundreds of users around the world and thousands of brand assets including logos, advertising copy, presentation templates and the like.
Solution
Architecture: HP required an architecture that would be reliable, scalable and powerful. We used a full Microsoft architecture at the application level. At the database level we used SQL Server 7.0 with natural language query, IIS 5.0 for the Web server and Windows 2000 for the OS.
Integration: To the success of the site, HP wanted the site to integrate with their other internal intranets. Langtech worked with HP to integrate the security handshaking components to create a fully integrated solution.
Current Status
The site was launched on time and on budget. The site became immediately useful during the merger with Compaq as the new branding needed to be conveyed quickly and consistently. Langtech continues to develop and expand the application. |
