Situation
Herrero Contractors Inc., a fast growing general contractor for the greater San Francisco Bay Area with projects in the North Bay, East Bay, and in San Francisco, needed to upgrade their large, ungainly NT4 based network and Citrix based remote access solution to provide all their jobsites with reliable, secure connections back to the corporate headquarters. The new system needed to be reliable, scale easily and, as the company does not employ a full-time IT staff, require minimal ongoing support to perform as needed. The solution needed to be implemented in parallel to the production environment, and the cutover needed to be invisible to the users.
Solution
During the due diligence phase of the project, Langtech determined that a combination of Windows 2003 servers and Terminal Services providing web-based access over Secure Sockets Layer could replace the previous Citrix based solution and thereby reduce the cost of both the implementation and ongoing support.
Current Status
The project was delivered as scoped: on time and within budget. The customer has retained Langtech to maintain their new systems with a combination proactive Monitoring and Maintenance and scheduled onsite support. |
